Whether it’s the cheesiness or the improbability of the whole thing, almost everyone has their own opinion on what’s wrong with romantic comedies even if they enjoy them. While they may be entertaining, it’s impossible to watch them while taking them completely seriously as they attempt to be a play on some modern fairy tale that probably has never happened to anyone realistically.

Rebel Wilson is familiar with all of these stereotypes and pokes fun at pretty much every single one of them in her movie that is being released on February 14, 2019. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, cynical and jaded architect Valerie, played by Rebel Wilson, is encouraged by her friend to try to give people a chance even though she pretty much has never put any hope into romance. This gets harder and harder for Valerie as she becomes involved in a love triangle with characters played by Liam Hemsworth and Adam DeVine.

This love triangle gets even more complicated when Adam DeVines significant other, played by Priyanka Chopra, is introduced into the mix. Isn’t It Romantic? is a new type of romantic comedy that makes it clear that it isn’t supposed to be taken too seriously from the start.

The cynical views of Rebel Wilson’s Valerie are explained in a scene where while watching Pretty Woman she is given a reality check from her mother that fairy tales just aren’t real.
